Director of Facilities and Field Services
Mr. Shannon Hunter has more than 32 years of experience in facilities management and operations. As Director of Facilities and Field Services for the Head Start program, he oversees facility maintenance, safety, and operational performance to ensure safe, efficient, and supportive environments for children, families, and staff.
Mr. Hunter began his career in the electrical field at Jackson State University, where he advanced from apprentice to electrician and later maintenance foreman overseeing multiple trade areas and facility operations. After earning a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a Business emphasis, he served as Energy Coordinator and implemented sustainability initiatives that saved the university more than $600,000.
He later managed large-scale facilities at both the local airport and Jackson Medical Mall before joining Head Start.
Today, he brings decades of hands-on experience and leadership to ensure that Head Start facilities provide safe, reliable spaces where children can learn and thrive.
