Program Overview
Rural Hinds County citizens pay as much as $10 to travel to Jackson to shop, run errands, or attend medical appointments. For individuals in the outermost reaches of the county, taxi fares can cost as much as $75. Through the Section 5311 Rural General Public Transportation Program, citizens living in rural areas of Hinds County are provided a safe, reliable, and accessible means of transportation so they can attend to their daily living needs. Convenient and affordable transportation is available to all citizens living in rural Hinds County (Bolton, Byram, Clinton, Edwards, Learned, Raymond, Terry, and Utica), including seniors (60+) and those with disabilities.
