Information for Seniors in Hinds County

Senior citizens have opportunities to help others through the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program (RSVP). From playing games to reading, seniors provide that much-needed generational interaction with our Head Start children. This is but one of the many ways seniors can volunteer through the RSVP effort.

For those individuals who are home-bound or have limited physical capabilities, HCHRA offers home-delivered meals.

For those who are more mobile, our congregate meal program not only provides meals but also socialization opportunities. Learn more by visiting the Our Programs page.

WHAT ARE THE HOME-DELIVERED AND CONGREGATE MEAL PROGRAMS? HOW CAN I SIGN UP FOR THEM?
The Home-Delivered Meals Program provides nutritious meals Monday-Friday to rural Hinds County senior citizens who are at least 60 years old or homebound. Individuals must live in rural areas such as Edwards, Terry, Raymond, Utica, or Bolton.

The Congregate Meals Program provides an opportunity for seniors to gather and enjoy a healthy and nutritious meal through an intergenerational “sit down” fellowship style lunch at one of our three Neighborhood Service Center locations: Edwards, Fannie Jackson, or Terry. Seniors must be at least 60 years old or disabled and reside in Edwards, Terry, Raymond, Utica, or Bolton.

To sign up for either program, please call 601-923-3950.
